Jason Everden Funeral Director & Partner

Jason Everden - Jason is a graduate of Penticton Secondary School and went on to complete three years of study at the Okanagan University College in Kelowna. He apprenticed with Everden Rust Funeral Services in Penticton, Kelowna & Hamilton Harron Funeral Centre in Vancouver. He received his Funeral Director and Embalmer's license from the British Columbia Funeral Director Apprenticeship Program in 1998. He has managed the Kelowna location since the retirement of Marvin Rust in 2004. In the past, Jason has been an active Rotarian (Paul Harris Fellow) and served as: a board member of the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club and board member of the Inaugural Cremation, Interment & Funeral Services Industry Advisory Group under Consumer Protection British Columbia. He is currently a board member of the British Columbia Funeral Association in Victoria where he is Chair of the Government & Legal committee. Jason is married to wife, Kim and together they have two sons: Brandon and Nathan. They have lived in West Kelowna since 2002.

Jonathon "Jon" Everden Funeral Director & Partner

Jonathon "Jon" graduated from South Hill High School in Vancouver. Following high school, he worked in restaurant management in Vancouver and Honolulu earning many awards as top producer.

After several years, Jon decided on a career change and joined the Vancouver Coroner's Service. He returned to the Okanagan in 2005 to begin his funeral service apprenticeship with the Everden Rust's Kelowna location. Jon is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer graduating from the Canadian College of Funeral Service in 2007. He currently works at Everden Rust's Kelowna location. Jon and his wife, Sayo have one daughter Katie and together they live in Kelowna.

Brandon Everden Funeral Director's Assistant

Brandon is the eldest son of Jason Everden and the eldest grandson to our founder, Bill Everden. He was born in Penticton and has lived with his family in West Kelowna since 2002. Brandon is a 2018 graduate of Mount Boucherie Senior Secondary School in West Kelowna. Currently Brandon is a funeral director's assistant with Everden Rust in Penticton, West Kelowna and Kelowna. He plans to enroll in the Western School of Funeral Service fall session in 2019. Brandon is the third generation of the Everden family to enter funeral service and looks forward to continuing the Everden tradition of serving families in their time of need. Brandon has always had a love for fishing, hunting and hiking in the Okanagan's beautiful back country.

Aron Meier Funeral Director / Embalmer

Aron was born and raised in Edmonton, AB and has spent most of his life in the Fraser Valley, Sunshine Coast.  Aron entered the profession in 1999 while caring for his grandfather, and being involved with his funeral arrangements.  In 2003 the family relocated to the Okanagan as funeral director; after a few years was entrusted with the title, Assistant Manager of Valleyview Funeral Home in Rutland.  Aron enjoyed the freedom to grow, and always made it his passion to serve a client family in the same manner he would want to be treated.  In January 2015, having just celebrated 15 years within the profession Aron felt led to join the Everden Family where he is currently fullfilled.  Aron has been a Rotarian for 10 years; a member of Downtown, Lake Country, and currently Kelowna Sunrise.  Aron and wife Teresa are Foster Parents, Adoptive Parents, and currently have 7 children.  As a family we attend and affiliate with Willow Park Church Hwy 33 campus.  Aron loves life and the outdoors, hunting, gardening are a few of his passions.  Aron has a big heart, is kind and gentle.  He effortlessly brings a calm, no pressure compassionate presence.

Bill Everden Founder, Funeral Director & Certified Funeral Celebrant

As founder of Everden Rust, Bill has over 45 years experience in funeral service. Since moving his family to Penticton in 1987, Bill has been very active in the community of Penticton. He has served as: local coordinator for the B.C. Special Olympics; President of: the Penticton Kiwanis and Skaha Rotary Clubs; Chairman of the Penticton United Church Board; board member of the Community Resources Society; member of the Allocations Committee of the United Way; Vice Chairman of the Pathways Addiction Resource Society Board; Chairman and board member of the Penticton Hospice Society. Bill lives in Penticton with his wife June and together they have three sons Jeff, Jason, and Jonathon, who are all licensed funeral directors under the firm. Bill retired in 2012 and now helps out when needed on an “on-call” basis.  In April of 2017, Bill become a certified Funeral Celebrant by completing the certification program with InSight Institute.  He has made himself available to families that want a more personalized celebration of life, memorial or funeral service.

Jeff Everden Funeral Director & Partner

Jeff completed high school at Penticton Secondary School in 1989 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Victoria in 1993. Jeff spent a number of years working in Vancouver 's downtown eastside as a mental health home-support worker with the Portland Hotel Society and St. James Community Service Society. Jeff returned to Penticton to learn the family business in 2001. In 2003, He graduated with honors from the Western School of Funeral Service as a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Jeff manages Everden Rust’s Penticton location. Jeff is active in the community of Penticton as a board member of the Penticton United Church and with Pathways Addiction Resource Society. Jeff is married to wife, Sandra and they live in Penticton.

Tran Reinders Funeral Director / Embalmer

Tran was born in Richmond, British Columbia and his family moved to Penticton in 1990. After graduating from Penticton High School in 2000 Tran moved back to the coast and worked as a shipper and receiver in the motorcycle parts industry. In 2003 he began working alongside Jonathon Everden for the Vancouver Coroner's Service. After several years Tran relocated to Red Deer, Alberta,( the hometown of his long-time girlfriend). In 2009 he entered funeral service as an attendant with Eventide Funeral Chapels. Tran graduated from Mount Royal University in Calgary with his Embalmers license in 2012. Upon being licensed, Tran was looking to settle out west and accepted a position with Everden Rust Funeral Services in Penticton where he went back to school and earned his B.C. Funeral Director’s & Embalmer’s License in 2014. Tran, his spouse Becky and their son, Layne currently live in Penticton, where he works with Everden Rust.

June Everden Office Manager

While attending Business College in Belleville, Ontario, June and Bill began dating. They continued their friendship in Toronto and started their careers. June's first job was a secretarial position at Weston Bakeries the Head Office in downtown Toronto. June and Bill Everden were married in 1970. The following year they started their family. 

Over the years, June has  worked as medical secretary for general practitioners, oncologists and Human Resources Assistant at Westpark Hospital in Weston, Ontario. In the Okanagan, June spent ten years working for the Interior Health Authority in various capacities. Since 2003 June has worked with her family as Office Manager for the Penticton Everden Rust facility and she also helps out at the Kelowna and West Kelowna facility as needed. June lives in Penticton with husband Bill. They have three sons Jeff, Jason, and Jonathon, who are all licensed funeral directors under the firm.

Rick Golke Funeral Director

Born and raised in Vernon, BC, Rick Golke began working in the funeral profession in 1985. He received his funeral directors license in 1989 and has worked in the profession ever since. The majority of his career was spent with Service Corporation International (SCI). He worked for several funeral homes in Vancouver and Kelowna over his 27 year career with them, and was in management for most of that time. He was involved as a board director and president for the Living Positive Resource Centre (formerly AIDS Resource Centre) in Kelowna from 1997 - 2006. He was a Rotarian from 2000 - 2007 and served as the club president for the year 2005/06. From 1998 through 2005 Rick was also involved with the Canadian Red Cross as a presenter of their Youth Suicide Prevention Program which was given to School district #23 and various community groups. He has been involved with Toastmasters since 2009 reaching the British Columbia district finals of the International Speech contest in 2014. In 2017, he joined the Everden Rust team and works at the Penticton location. He is currently living in Okanagan Falls where in addition to his work as a funeral director, he also provides celebrant services for families that need someone to officiate at their celebration of life service.

Glen Whittaker Funeral Director

Glen Whittaker was born and raised in Victoria BC, Glen studied business administration at college before embarking on a career in retail management, which lasted for over 25 years. He was then introduced to funeral service. A career change became inevitable, and Glen has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer since 2002.  The most rewarding part of the job remains to be what drew him into funeral service in the beginning: seeing families progress from the loss of a loved one to “turning the page” and beginning a new chapter in their lives.  Much of Glen’s time away from work is dedicated to Lions Clubs International, another avenue of service to his community.  Glen and his wife, Elaine, enjoy quality time with family. Vacations vary from Saskatchewan to Victoria, with the occasional cruise to warmer winter destinations. They spend as much time as possible with their only daughter and her family.  Glen and Elaine have been season ticket holders to their local junior hockey team (currently the West Kelowna Warriors) for many years. Glen also enjoys football (CFL please!) and a good book.
