Mission Statement
Everden Rust Funeral Services is a full service funeral provider, licensed by the province of British Columbia. It was established in 1994 to offer reasonable, flexible options for cremation and burial services with no manipulation at the lowest possible cost to the people we serve.
Bill Everden
Bill, 58 a founding partner of Everden Rust Funeral Services, has 38 years experience in funeral service. He began his career in 1969, as an apprentice in Toronto, Ontario. He received his diploma, funeral directors and embalmers license upon graduating from the funeral service program at Humber College in Toronto. After several years in the Southern Ontario area, Bill and his family moved to Penticton in 1987, where he joined a local funeral home as Manager. Bill is very active within his community. For three years he was the local coordinator for the B.C. Special Olympics. He is a member and past President of the Penticton Kiwanis club and the Skaha Rotary Club, past Chairman of the Penticton United Church Board and past board member of the Community Resources Society. He is a past member of the allocations committee for the United Way and past Vice Chairman of the Pathways Addiction Resource Society Board and past Chairman of the Hospice Society in Penticton. Bill lives in Penticton with his wife of 37 years, June. They have three sons, Jeff, Jason, and Jonathon. The newest members of the family are grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan and Katie.
Marvin Rust
Marvin, 63 a founding partner of Everden Rust Funeral Services was born and raised in Saskatchewan, the youngest of six children. The rural upbringing instilled in Marvin a respect for the quality of life and dignity of death. Upon graduation from High School, Marvin worked for Hainstocks Funeral Home in Edmonton, Alberta, where he undertook the necessary training to work effectively as a Funeral Director and Embalmer. Marvin was called to the Ministry and for 18 years served as a Baptist Pastor in Edmonton, Kelowna and Vancouver. In April 1996, he joined Bill Everden as a partner in Everden Rust Funeral Services and Crematorium starting the Kelowna Chapel. With the wealth of background experiences in the funeral industry, Marvin brings a heart of understanding and care to the families of the Okanagan. As a family man, Marvin is married to wife, Lorraine and together they have three grown children, Norman, Corine and Nicole as well as two grandchildren.
Jason Everden
Jason, 34 and General Manager of Everden Rust Funeral Services, Kelowna was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. After graduating from Penticton Secondary School in 1991, he went on to complete three years of related studies at the Okanagan University College in Kelowna. In 1996, he formally registered as an apprentice with Everden Rust Funeral Services. Year two of Jason's apprenticeship was completed with Vancouver ' s Hamilton Harron Funeral Centre and Crematorium, one of the Lower Mainland' s most established funeral providers. It was here where Jason learned the skills required to serve families of the area's many different ethnic backgrounds. In 1998, Jason received his Funeral Director's and Embalmer's license from the British Columbia Funeral Director Apprenticeship Program. Jason remained in Vancouver until his wife, Kim received her Bachelor 's degree from the University of British Columbia. Jason, Kim and their sons, Brandon, and Nathan now live in Glenrosa, Westbank. Jason is an active Rotarian & board member of the Kelowna Sunrise Rotary Club. He was a past member of the Inaugural Cremation, Interment & Funeral Services Industry Advisory Group under the Business Practices & Consumer Protection Authority of British Columbia.
Jeff Everden
Jeff, 36, born in Toronto, Ontario, is a graduate of Penticton Secondary School and earned a Bachelor's degree at the Okanagan University College. After University Jeff spent a number of years working in Vancouver's downtown eastside as a mental health home-support worker with the Portland Hotel Society and St. James Community Service Society. He returned to Penticton to learn the family business in 2001, and was married to wife, Sandra in October of 2002. Jeff brings with him a wealth of experience dealing with people in crisis and a love of service. Jeff graduated from the Western School of Funeral Service in 2003 with honors, and serves through our Penticton location.
Jonathon "Jon" Everden
Jonathon "Jon" Everden, 27 was born in Cobourg, Ontario and is a graduate of South Hill High School in Vancouver. After graduating high school, he worked in the restaurant management field in both Vancouver and Honolulu, Hawaii. After several years, Jon returned back to the Vancouver area and began working for the Vancouver Coroner's Service. He moved back to the Okanagan in December of 2004 and began working full time with Everden Rust's Kelowna Chapel. Currently he is enrolled in year two of the Western School of Funeral Service. As a family man, Jon is married to wife, Sayo and together they have one daughter, Katie who is three years old.
